CHOOSING TO BE TORTURED

A friend writes: "We agreed to work together on this "game", (as we always do). Some wanted to come to experience starving, some to experience a tortured death, some to feel fear."

Here is what I want to say to her:-

This is horrific .... I feel aghast .... that anybody could believe this about another person ....

What do you mean, "wanted"? ....

How can a deeply loving and gentle person say such things? ....

I experience you as a deeply loving and gentle person ....

If you find me being tortured, please don't say, "That's what he wants." There will have been some mistake ....

I really want to hear what you are saying .... At present it just leaves me shaking ....

.... in a kind of painful, shocked, bemusement ....

If you try again, I promise I will try to listen ....

and with love ....
